According to whom? Is OP an expert on cultural respresentation in media? Has the OP asked people of color how they feel about this show? I’ve heard strong opinions on this topic and I feel that it’s irresponsible to imply the A:TLA fictionalized versions of real life cultures isn’t questionable.
Hi there! OP is a multi-ethnic Asian woman. I truly believe ATLA, especially in comparison to other “Asian-inspired media” does a really responsible job in its worldbuilding.
This article is quite short but has a very nice segment on what the creators did to make sure their storytelling was respectful and accurate while still pointing out flaws. Bryke inevitably has some blindspots, but I truly believe they did a remarkable job.
